Yesterday, the MSOE School of Nursing I work at in Milwaukee came up with an idea: we plan to donate all the extra PPE we have in our labs to a nearby hospital. We sent out an email to nurse educators and posted a Google doc sign up sheet. We got immediate responses and the idea spread to Madison. UW Eau Claire has already arranged to do this, as have UW Milwaukee, Marquette, and other schools (can’t look at updated list right now.
I want you, no URGE you, to get the Nursing schools, dental schools, dental hygiene programs, CNA training programs to do the same.
But I want this to go further: think of all the now closed places like dentist offices and nail salons that have these supplies on hand. Heck I bet even veterinarians have some. Contact them. Create a way to coordinate the donations so they don’t all go to one place. Figure out who can pick them at a prearranged time from door steps: mail carriers? The National Guard? Healthy volunteers?
In addition, ask the local news or the mayor or governor to publicize, encourage, and organize these donations.
